Of course, Elmer also has a point. Intel's fabs aren't 4x the size of AMD's, so Intel has to have somewhat better yields.

It was reported here some time ago that Intel's Fab12 was producing > 1 Million CuMines per week. I have it on very good authority that the number was 1.25 Million. With 13 weeks in a quarter that puts the capacity at well over 15 million. Now I know the Cumine is smaller but yields have undoubtedly improved over time so I think it's a reasonable statement to say 1 Intel fab could product 2x the Athlons that are coming out of 2 AMD fabs. Fab12 is probably larger than either of AMD's fabs but I don't think it was ever 100% committed to CuMine. Rough numbers here but you get the point.

EP
