wbmw, re: "Didn't AMD have a third fab that they recently shut down?"

This might have been answered elsewhere in the exchange... but AMD recently shutdown Fab 14/15 which leaves them with Austin & Dresden plus a small design center in Sunnyvale.

Manufacturing site summary: amd.com
EDIT: List is a little dated as FASL III is now in or entering production.

FWIW (not quite two cents), my impression is that AMD's commodity chip production will most likely be from Fab 25 (Austin). This would make a very good CC question... but I am not sure there is the opportunity to send AMD questions via the net.
