A lot of pain

The said thing is that a huge portion of these people had their 401(k) invested in company stock.

This should be a lesson to everyone who ever worked for a company with a 401(k). Never, ever, never have the company's stock as one of your 401(k) investments.

I can't tell you how many clients I've seen over the years that had their entire livelihood tied up in one company -- the one they work for. Not only their source of income, but their entire life savings. Just a really bad move.
