They're getting pretty close:

A close associate of Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat was fatally wounded in a blast in his four-story Bethlehem home a short time ago.

He was evacuated to King Hussein Hospital in nearby Beit Jala. Doctors there say he is clinically dead, Israel Radio reported.

Three Fatah members were reportedly wounded in the blast, one seriously and two moderately. It is not clear if the dead man was included in this accounting.

The Fatah man was a member of Arafat's personal protection unit.

Palestinians claim the blast was an Israeli assassination attempt carried out by missiles fired from IAF helicopters.

Other Palestinian reports indicate the blast took place within the man's house and might have been a "work accident" - a euphemism often used to describe the premature detonation of a terrorist bomb.

Israeli F-16 fighter jets flattened the Palestinian Authority police headquarters in Jenin a short time ago.

Late this afternoon, IAF helicopters struck at Arafat's personal helicopters in Gaza City.
