Interestingly, my entree into the high tech biz was peripheral to the newspaper biz. I worked at a company that made systems for newspapers and magazines. Full electronic pre-press/pagination systems (text front-end, image scanners, laser and phototypesetters, page layout). These were huge multi-million dollar systems that took up a huge amount of space. Now, you can do the same thing on a PC....LOL. I was a systems engineer, so I ended up making a lot of sales calls to newspapers throughout the U.S. (I think the total was somewhere around 200 in 37 states by the time I left). I have always avoided any political conversations with the family. If I let on what my true views are, no doubt they would think I am even more of a nutbar then they think I am already.
