Yep - used to write for "West" mag which was the Sunday Times supplement a few years back. Also wrote for "Ski" and "Cruising." Won an award for a picture I took after a United Airlines crash off of LAX.

That picture btw was an example of how the news gets slanted. I was a stringer for the AP when the photogs were out on strike. My dad sent me down to the Marina and told me to look for Clete Roberts who was a reporter for a local station and follow him around. If there was going to be a picture, Clete would be the first there. He also had a TV cameraman who would have bright lights and my dad told me to use those lights to get whatever photo.

The first opportunity came when a fireman came down the ramp off a boat carrying something wrapped in a yellow slicker. He was cradling it like you would a baby. I was stooping down in front of the TV camera and Clete told me to yell out at the guy asking what he was carrying - so I did.

"Hey mister - whatcha got there?"

The guy shot me a look which is what made the picture. He was pissed and hurt. If I hadn't asked the question the way I did, I wouldn't have gotten the look.

Turns out what he was carrying was a torso - the only body part that they found.
