Well, if you're not convinced, take it as a matter of opinion, but what would be an interesting way to resolve this would be to allow US consumers (the real power in the universe, as the bad guy in Star Wars said) to have a choice whether to buy Saudi or non-Saudi oil products.

Just the process of segregating the oil from each different country would add to costs. Perhaps instead of Saudi oil, you would buy from Iraq or Iran?

The overwhelming vote-with-petrodollars would be for non-M.E. products altogether.

OK I guess you would not go for Iraqi oil. This would require being willing to pay more for oil. I'm not sure how many people would want to do that. Also if it really does effect the M.E. countries it would likely be a very negative effect. The Saudi government tries to control things through throwing cash around. If they lose the cash they could lose control. If they lose control I don't think it would be a peace loving democratic government that would replace the monarchy. It would more likely be a radical Islamic government.
