There are parallels here (not complete ones) to the Patty Hearst case. Unclear whether she was a willing conscript at the beginning, but after indoctrination she appeared committed to the cause.

If he was involved in fighting in Kashmir it makes it appear as though he chose to become a holy warrior/soldier of fortune (was he paid?). The more I have heard about this so far, the more I think that the only question should be how painful the method of death we should select.

These violent fundamentalists who would suppress all other forms of religion and wage war against those who disagree with their notions of purity are a cancer on the human race. The more of them that die quickly, the better off the human race will be.

And no, I don't feel the need to undergo sensitivity training.

>>Whether or not it is treason may be academic, notice that he saw OBL in an "Al Qaeda training camp". Who do they train in "Al Qaeda training camps"? I am guessing "Al Qaeda Members". One way it is treason, the other way it is terrorism.<<

Given this little piece of information, I'd say it was probably a conscious choice on his part to join the Taliban and fight against the U.S. That makes it both treason and terrorism.

If that turns out to be the case, I hope they make an example of him.

It's one thing to be brought up in that environment and not have too much of a choice, it's quite another to be given all the privileges he had and then choose to turn on your country.

As far as being and aid worker - those types were held prisoner. Why wasn't he?

Things are not looking too good for him.....
