only those whom He personally empowered were able to do so and in the case of Jesus he did not need any help to accomplish this feat.

One would not expect followers empowered to raise the dead to have acted skeptical or surprised at the mythological resurrection of Jesus. On the contrary, as it was something which they were empowered to do (and we may assume had done many times in obedience to his direct command in Matthew 10:8), it should have been considered rather commonplace.
