Well, yes, the position of Paul is interesting. As to the apostles establishing churches, my sense is that most of them didn't do a heck of a lot after Jesus died, though I could be wrong The Acts is pretty skimpy for twelve guys committed to a lifetime of service.

My point is simply this, fwiw: that the true church is a dynamic, very personal church, that all the hooplah and ceremonies and theological tomes and all that are fun, and interesting, and lead to some fascinating discussions, but when it comes right down to it, Christianity is mano-a-god. The whole priest class has, IMO, coopted Christ and tried their best to wall Him off from His people.

Having said which, that's enough on personal theology for me.
