The possibility to convert Social Security to an investment-based annuity-like program is now gone for this generation, and likely the next.

Dooming future generations to paying HUGE payroll tax to meet the demands now being heeped on them by government.

Why do you think it is gone? Perhaps we need on long term conversion program, but I don't think the prospect is totally dead. The Democrats are doing their best to convince the populace at large this would constitute a "risky venture".
