Then again, it could have been a multiple choice quiz: Name your favorite American singing group of the 60's: A. Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts B. The Cowsills C. The Happenings D. Cannibal and the Headhunters E. The Royal Guardsmen F. Jay and the Americans G. The Music Explosion H. The Soul Survivors As long as the selection excluded The Four Seasons, the Mamas and the Papas, the Four Tops, the Temptations, Smokey and the Miracles, the Young Rascals, the Association, the Turtles, the Fifth Dimension, and maybe a couple others I can't think of right off, I think Jay and the Americans would at least be close to the top if not number 1. However, I do agree that Jay's ability to hold a note for a long time was, and is, unsurpassed. BTW, Christmas CD's have been going out over the past few days.
