By project, I meant Kap's project, not P4 itself. I think you are getting acclimated at Intel and displaying the required paranoid behavior. <just kidding>

But you may be actually right in the way you understood it, which is that the decoder may be the Achilles' heal of P4, the reason the performance does not live up to the clock speed.

But I think you are missing the point of what Kap is doing. His hypothesis is that P4's decoder runs at half speed and he is trying to prove that. It's not about P4 being faster or slower at popular benchmarks or applications. It's a simple yes or no question like is that blimp filled with Helium?
