This is key. With such a dramatic size difference, AMD should have a much better cost advantage. AMD's cost should be less than half Intel's die cost if yields are equivalent. If AMD's cost advantage is only 10-20% they must have a yield problem. The yield numbers Paul posted come right in line with this cost model. The effects of extreme channel length processing conform as well. There doesn't appear to be an outlying datapoint.
