It was Buckley, who threatened to punch him out. Only time in recorded history that Buckley ever lost his cool. You know what? I saw the clip last year on a cable channel, and Buckley was the one who was out of line. My guess is they are friends today, but I can't confirm...

BTW: I never liked Vidal's politics, but I immensely enjoyed "Burr" and "1876". I saw Vidal on TV a few years ago and he stated that he did, indeed, distort history in his novels for the purpose of entertainment. If you're a history buff, you will be very much entertained...
