Call me old fashioned, but I still believe there is a difference between goals (what we would like the world to be), and reality (what it currently is).

Bush actually proposed an extension of legal rights to fetuses (in comments this year), but it hasn't actually been done yet.

Obviously, if there was a Constitutional basis for enfranchisement of the unborn then new legislation such as that proposed would be superfluous.

The truly interesting point - to me - is that if you extend full citizenship to fetuses... how would we register their votes? (And just as obviously, in the sense of simple fairness, everyone under the age of 18 would have to get the right to vote also.)
