Yes. Someone made it into a short story (can't remember the author), and then Twilight Zone used it in the the early 60's. Much sci-fi from the early-to-mid 60's has gone out of print. In another 30 years some literary scholar will catalogue a lot of it, and it will be popularized again. The early space program nurtured many imaginations in America and gave a huge boost to the genre'.

One of my favorite novels as a kid was "Day of the Giants", a fantasy of Norse mythology mixed with early 60's sci-fi. Out of print for over forty years now. Wish I had kept my copy...
