Mani: 20 million or 12 million. It does not really matter since it is more than what AMD can sell.

Considering that Fab25 will be phased out over the next 12 months or so (is that the time line?), it seems fairly important to estimate how much AMD can produce at Fab30.

Like I said, that 12M should be taken as an upper bound.

All this raises another question: If AMD is to increase market share and reach its coveted 30% goal, is foundry space really needed? If not, why is AMD going in that direction at this juncture?

Mani,

20 million or 12 million. It does not really matter since it is more than what AMD can sell.

AMD can already make a lot more than they can sell. My guess is that if AMD could sell every CPU they could possibly make, AMD could make 12 million CPUs this quarter - 6 million Durons in Austin, 6 million Athlons in Dresden.
