Everyone was too engrossed with fighting a war on many fronts to look back and take up issues such as the forgotten ones in the internment camps. The casualty lists were mounting besides and sons in action were away in unknown places for years not months. The circumstances of insight and reaction were so much different in those days that they're almost indescribable. There never would have been an O.J. Simpson trial as we know it. In the 30s prior to that war enraged citizens broke in the jail and lynched two murderers who killed the son of a popular merchant in of all places in what is now known as Silicon Valley - San Jose. Phrases like "sleeping together" were taboo on the radio. And, of course, we all remember the term "silent majority" which followed us up through the 70s. Maybe we believed that you shouldn't fight city hall? Places like Australia were weeks away. Some folks who lived on one side of San Francisco Bay never visited the other. 50 miles by car was a long trip. Hazing in schools was expected and tolerated. Anyway, we have folks like yourself ready to take up causes even using something (who would have dreamed of) called the Internet. But, perhaps, what you are referring to (the unlearned lesson) is the continued presence of despots like Saddam and the world's usual reticence in dealing with them in a timely fashion? The indulgence of Hitler's threatening early on resulted in his blown up ego finally leading all into a world war. We didn't know or acknowledge that he was putting the Jews into death camps until wars end. Angler
