Just go to Control Panel/ Add-Remove programs and remove it. It should leave Windows Media Player 6.4. If by chance all media players are removed you can go here and download a copy of 6.4 to install.

You are better off keeping 7.0. I hated it to start with as well. I reverted back to 6.0 when I first got it. Found out my biggest issue with it was all the extra crappola and layout.

But a few clicks of getting rid of that anchor and clicking View > Compact mode and I have all new 7.0 technology with the simple look of 6.0.

Try that first.
