Here is some advice I got from an acquiantance. I start by connecting my computer DIRECTLY to my cable modem and set my system for Obtain IP automatically, No Gateway, WINS-disable, DNS-disable and leave my HOSTNAME the way it was (cxxxxx-a). Next reboot the system and run WINIPCFG (win-95/98/ME), IPCONFIG (win-NT/2000. Upon running WINIPCFG/IPCONFIG click on MORE INFO and write down all the addresses. Then reconnect the Linksys and rerun WINIPCFG/IPCONFIG to reconnect it. Next, log in to the Linksys by typing the xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa address and set the IP to Automatic. Manually set the Subnet, Gateway and DNS's from the settings you wrote down. Save those settings and then rerun the browser and go to my favorite home page. If that doesn't work then there is something else wrong.

Right. All clear, then?
