Ten - Re:"assume AMD's yields are 70% and figure out their wafer starts from there."

The answer is 3530 wspw if the yield is 70%. That utilization rate for 2 mega fabs is even more of a disaster.

Ten - Re: "could it be possible that Dresden is in the middle of a process transition to 0.13u? After that, they'll be in yet another process transition to SOI. Then to 90 nm, etc.
In other words, maybe Dresden will never reach full capacity."

In AMD QuantiMath, the number of wafers for FULL PRODUCTION has changed.

When AMD started DregsDen, they advertised it as a 6,000 WSPW wafer fab.

Up until 2 weeks ago, AMD advertised MegaFLop 30 (DregsDen) as a 6000 WSPW wafer fab.

In the last week or so, AMD has CHANGED that number DOWN to 5,000.

So..it's all in the QuantiMath !!
