<There was a grievous dilution of pay scales for the professional NCO and Officer careerists, when money had to be siphoned off to pay some snot-nosed private E-1 $1,000/month while receiving training.>

Hawk, what about that "love of country" stuff we were just reading about? It seems that we can in fact put a price on freedom and $1000 is too much for snot-nosed people. But why should snot-nosed officers wanting a sinecure get more? They have got payment in "love of country" whereas the snot-nosed private in training gets "contempt of the officer class" it seems.

Yep, get them conscript slaves in and boost the officer class payments.

It doesn't look like a land of freedom to me if you get to call the shots, [other than for the snot-nosed officer class of course].

Plus ca change,
Mq

PS: <Using conscription to fill the lower ranks means more money is available to creating a cadre force that can be rapidly expanded should a major war erupt.> Hahahaha!!! Hey, use conscription to fill the snot-nosed officer ranks and pay them with Love of Country to really save some money.
