You aren't alone in that.

The technical doctrines of various religions often have little to do with what it means to live a virtuous, moral, and religious life. I frankly think God doesn't care in the least how many angels we think can dance on the head of a pin, or how the sign of the cross should be made (or even whether it should be made) or how many times a day people should pray, and on and on. I'm amazed that some people truly believe these things make a difference to God.

And this applies to more significant issues of doctrine, also. Why do we as humans try to dissect God, to decide whether he/she/it is one person or three persons or whatever? Does anybody really WANT to worship a God who cares about that?

In His house are many mansions. That's good enough for me. Sounds as though it's good enough for you, too.

We agree on the principles and ideals of what it takes to live a righteous life but now what it means. Christians believe that the fact that NO human has ever come even close to these ideals, demonstrates our sinful nature and our total inability in and of ourselves to live up to Gods standards. We are all lost and deserve condemnation. Despite our total lack of merit, and because of NOTHING we have done, God, because of his nature as all Merciful, is willing to transfer the perfect life of Jesus to our account and expunge our own meritless account.

This is more than mere doctrine. In our view of the nature of God, the nature of man and the nature of the relationship between the two, Christians have NOTHING in common with ANY other world religion.
