Conscription! If there was any truth in what he said, no... he was a voluntary ransom payment. Like that "American Taliban" guy, over a year or two an organization can do a lot to change a persons perception of things... The Afghan situation was bad before the Taliban arrived as he explained. I think both were very lucky to get out with hides intact. Guess that means there was/will be a lot of unlucky ones. edit: btw read his confession again. The sexual abuse of children was one of the problems pre Taliban. In fact the "students" started at precisely at one such attack if the rumor can be believed.
