Remember, this is the first quarter when the yoy comparisons won't look so bad, even if they are not so good. <g>. Not so dumb CEOs have been writing off lots of crud to get ready to start looking better this quarter and next. If the belief that the "worst is behind us" is verified by o.k. earnings (on a comparative basis.)....well, there you have it!.

Softechie..consider the following regardings warnings--

QCOM warned for entire 2002: it's up from price where it warned

NVLS just warned that Q1+Q2 2002 would be negative earnings: it's positive

AMAT missed pro forma BS numbers: it's up

ADBE warned of earning $0.05 less for Q4, and it's up over 8+ points.

look, the government/Greenspan/Rubin/institutions always win.

go long or stay on sidelines. shorting is deadly.
