Wrong. Libel per se, that is statements which go to a person's trade or business do not require proof of any damages, if I was so inclined....

From Black's Law Dictionary:
libel per se

Definition
libel that is actionable without the plaintiff introducing additional facts to show defamation or claiming special damages

If JLA could show that his character is being maligned in a public forum, and that someone knew it was him that was being talked about. In other words if it could be shown that he did suffer a loss of reputation, then there may be a case. At any rate JLA could represent himself and it would only cost him time, while it could get very expensive for Win, as you of course pointed out.

Whatever,
LOL
