Voluntary free association of free people is freedom.

Hmmm.. We don't let American teens have free association in our schools.

We don't even let them drink until they are 21.

And I still believe your response is exaggerated, since I'm only stating that at age 18, all young people are required to spend a certain amount of time in service of the country that provides them the freedom they will enjoy once they have completed their commitment.

Hell, most of us had no idea what we were going to do after we left high school. National service is an opportunity to open their eyes and broaden their horizons.

Considering that half my senior class was married and working on their daddy's farm before age 20, it could be even considered "charitable".. :0)
