That's a bit like saying a certain politician invented the Internet.

Regarding who were the major players in WW2, the Western Allies (of which the USA was one) contributed about 20% of the effort in the winning of the war against Germany. This is in just terms of enemy dead, POW's and direct losses. The USA was of course a major contributor of arms and supplies of all sorts though.
