It is entirely possible that this kid was drawn into the Taliban just as many seemingly normal, middle class kids are drawn into cults. Try withholding judgement until the facts are in. Innocent until proven guilty. We still believe in that here, I think.

The guy's defense lawyer should claim he was too stoned to know what he was doing. Lots of drugs in Pakistan. Weren't the Taliban into opium?
