wbmw,

At the same time the AMDroids are hailing the coming of Hammer as the next apocalypse for Intel

AMDroids are saying that? I definitely am not. I see Hammer as a good desktop chip, making baby steps in the enterprise, but mainly competing with Netburst (couldn't Intel marketing come up with better marketing name?) core chips. If Itanium collapses, it will collapse under its own weight.

wbmw,

they look at all the press releases for Itanium, all the endorsements for Itanium, all the committments for Itanium - and all they can think of is toilet paper.

Actually, I am saying it may be worse, since all the money thay go into the Itanium project are a potential liability, if it gets canceled, so the piling on of these press releases with no product may actually be a net negative.

Beamer - Re: "Who the hell as committed much of anything to AMD's next generation "enterprise" platform?
Tell me, Joe. How is it that the AMDroids are so right, and the rest of the world is so wrong?"

AMDroid logic:

AMD didn't lose money last quarter - they caused Intel to have reduced profits. Which really means Intel lost money last quarter. Which means AMD had a successful quarter - which means AMD made money last quarter.
