One other advantage would be that the not so expendible cash in the third world could go to something more productive than buying assault weapons personnel land mines, and ammunition. Rocks, arrows and spears are a lot less expensive. Thoreau was considered an odd ball when he was tossed in jail for refusing to pay his poll tax.
