I believe differently. I think that multiple architectures is a winning strategy - if you can afford it. HP and Compaq couldn't afford it - Itanium ended up being cheaper for them. AMD couldn't afford multiple architectures, either. That's why they are forced to design a single architecture for use in all of their markets. AMD's Hammer may be a Jack of All Trades, but you may soon find it a Master of None.
