The US especially between 1/20 and 9/11 was internally focused and looking for enemies rather than trying to build peace. Clinton did a last gasp with Arafat and Sharon. But even as Sharon was getting elected a lot of folks predicted his hawkishness would lead to a lot of violence. Bush was very isolationist while the tensions mounted. What a load of crap.... JLA
