My shelter is a plastic tub with a seat on one end. It has a canvas covered aluminum frame that pivots over the plastic and about 3' of ice. A propane lantern will keep it fairly warm. I've been fishing when guys built a fire on the ice. The heat rises and after several hours of burning only about an inch of ice is melted.
