Cingular bond investors are getting 3% above Treasuries. Sounds pretty good right now. Wait until they realize that Cingular spent the money and got ZERO return. Those same bonds will be yielding a 25% premium in two years.

this is another example of investors wanting more premium above the risk-free rate as awareness grows (at least among bond investors) that the demise of risk has been greatly exaggerated. i am not sure what there is to "love" about this for a wireless investor, because the higher risk premium is imho likely to affect all debt issuers in the carrier space, regardless of which digital standard they adopt. heck, some day, there may even be a higher risk premium in the prices of wireless-equipment vendors and their ilk. the implications for share prices i leave to your imagination.
