I don't know what exactly to make of this news, but as a bear it is making me re-think my position.

You may recall that Callais (who, by the way, is even MORE of a moron than Galvin) replaced Charles Clough at Merrill, at about the same time that Kurlack was getting forced out. Basically, as a timer of markets, its always been a pretty safe bet to fade the Merrill research department.

I wouldn't call Bernstein a perma-bear, but I haven't heard him say anything positive for over a year. Maybe the bear market IS nearly over...
