Once again we're in violent agreement. <g>

I agree completely that God speaks to us in a manner to which we are "attuned". One way of viewing this is that God is constantly "broadcasting" on all frequencies and from time to time we "tune in" and catch of glimpse of reality. Naturally human tendency is to rejoice and exclaim "I've got it!", and that's when the trouble begins. <g>

I've observed that most eastern traditions love "stages" and "levels" (especially in numerologically auspicious groupings) and constantly organize cosmology around such constructs. I've often wondered wether caste systems preceded or flowed from such perceptions.

I tend to take a different approach. The way I phrase it is God is consistent with and orthogonal to everything. Roughly translated this means that God is everywhere and nowhere. God is both present in all understanding and beyond all explanation. No system is inconsistent with God and yet none contains Him either. Our word games (such as this thread) in truth say nothing, for life can only be lived and God is life itself.

By the way, I assume that book title is satiric? If not, there is much more to discuss.
