Hi Wolf,

I'll stand with my interpretation.

In fact Rebecca's wording would have been better if she had said:

"We are very pleased to have extended our agreement with Acqua Wellington
for an additional few months, through May, 2002, to continue the flexibility
to access funds as necessary." Period.

By using the participle, "despite", I rephrased it like:

There were some regulatory delays in PENNSAID(R) approval,
but we have extended our agreement with Acqua Wellington for an additional few months anyways."

So, it doesn't sound logical.

More logical to me would be:
Because we have experienced some regulatory delays in PENNSAID(R) approval,
we have extended our agreement with Acqua Wellington for an additional few months."

Here are a few classics that I based my interpretation despite my limited grammar:

"The band played on despite the heckling from the guests."
"The guests were heckling, but the band played on."

"The teams played on despite the rain."
"It rained but the teams played anyways."

I was being a wise guy with the "Psst" part:
"...despite some regulatory delays in
PENNSAID approval," said Rebecca Keeler" Psst, this is a hint. Negative.

Actually, it can be reworded as:
"Psst, this is a fact. Negative."

Anyways, enough of the "despites" and Psst-ing,

I'm not sure I agree on this:

"I must still differ with you despite all that you have said."
``Notwithstanding all you have said, I must still differ with you.''

Good night and happy trails despite all the nit picking word crafting. <ggg> <zzz>
