Instead of unfounded optimism....I would say that its firmly based. Your examples are good, but at both previous peaks we did not have the heavy duty drivers of low and lower interest rates, lower energy prices, and government stimulus packages. Its been shown that the market follows interest rates over any set period of time. We will have a better idea today when INTC gives a insight into the year end sales of chips.

The talking heads bring up how far stock prices have come from the bottom of the cycle...thats of no consequence in my opinion...outlook is everything.

I noticed that KLAC is back to where it was in January of 2000. Pretty amazing.
