*OT* Yeah, league's really in trouble now...talking about dropping 2 teams...cost-cutting, really survivor mode.....Anschutz basically controls league now (5 of 9 "owned" franchises), so comissioner Garber is basically a puppet....

I guess if you are going to have a sugar daddy though, Anschutz is the one....he can take heavy losses for years to come (last I heard, worth $10B), however, I don't know a lot of rich businessman who love to lose money, no matter how much they have.

Anschutz is quite a wheeler dealer....he's bought up 60% of the nation's movie screens, and has big plans to do digital transmission of everything to movies, sporting events....he owns hockey teams in Europe etc. Controls stadiums, teams, etc. through his company AEG Entertainment Group. I actually think his idea eventually won't work, but whatever.

Sad about Lothar...he was too great a player for too long to pull such a stunt....what ever happened to Deutsche Stolz (German pride)? Germany got a great draw, btw, although I don't think they'll go thru (for once)
