Analyst Firm Reports Wind River To Be Leading Provider of Embedded Software Development Tools
biz.yahoo.com
ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 2001--Wind River Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:WIND), a leading provider of software and services for connected smart devices, today announced that it has been named the leading embedded software development tools vendor by Gartner Dataquest in the research firm's recent worldwide market analysis. The Gartner Dataquest ``2000 Worldwide Embedded Software Tools Market Share'' report stated that Wind River accounted for more than 30% of the commercial embedded software tools market, which is more than double the market share of its closest competitor.

In this report, Gartner Dataquest's design and engineering group considered worldwide sales of real-time operating systems (RTOS), compilers, debuggers, simulators, system-level tools, integrated development environments (IDEs) and in-circuit emulators (ICEs). Though Wind River offers an extensive line of ``stand alone'' development tools that are integrated with its operating system technologies, many of Wind River's development tools are also used with in-house proprietary and third party operating systems.
