Wanna_bmw, Re: My guess is that it should be relatively unchanged, but with the large upside on Intel's guidance, it might suggest that Intel gains a point or two.

Unit market share? Maybe. Revenue market share? I don't think so.

AMD expects to have >10% more revenues in CPUs alone (since flash is expected to be about flat) while Intel is expecting overall revenue to increase between 2.4% and 5.5%. If Intel's other groups doesn't do worse than that that's what to be expected from CPG too. So it looks like AMD won back successfully revenue market share in CPUs by increasing ASPs without losing units. Keep in mind that Intel guided for lower ASPs in the last CC and they didn't change that forecast in today's PR (we have to listen to the CC later to be sure). But it's still possible that Intel increased units more than AMD, so unit market share could be down for AMD. But I agree with you that it's probably more or less unchanged.

wbmw,

AMD also expects record units, which begs the question on where market share will lie by the end of the quarter. My guess is that it should be relatively unchanged, but with the large upside on Intel's guidance, it might suggest that Intel gains a point or two.

Lol. Intel is guiding median of the revenue up 6.25%, while AMD is predicting increase of 10% or more, how does that translate in Intel gaining market share? That would mean that AMD ASPs increased at MUCH faster rate than Intel.

RE:"AMD also expects record units, which begs the question on where market share will lie by the end of the quarter"

How can AMD expect record sales? Intel is skunking them. OEMS can't get any nForce boards. There is a serious lack of bAthylon XP boxes at retail. Sure looks like AMD yields have gone below 30%. AMD can't market eyesight to the blind...
You were a "genius" to sell AMD at 16 and Intel at 34.25...
