Scott, well presented dissection. I would often love to do the same to posts and articles that smuggle innuendo into unthinking minds, but it is so time consuming and often useless.

No I don't believe he made those moves to undermine civil liberties and evade constitutional checks and balance. And I believe he has the American people's interests foremost in his mind. But I do believe that his actions do threaten civil liberties and require scrutiny. And because there was little or no consultation with congress that constitutional checks and balances are being evaded. I like Ashcroft, but I wouldn't give him carte blanche to do whatever he wants without having the ability to take him to task.

By the way, a writer of a news story doesn't usually write the headline.

Also, thank you for a great response.
