RE:"Jimmy Mac, market share figures are more showboating than substantial."

I agree.

RE:"You have constantly ridiculed Intel for supposedly giving away X-Box CPUs just to increase their market share numbers."

NOT true. Intel did what they had to do to get X-box. I've always said that. Business is business.
I'm sure they are not making much on the chip. They have they right to do that too.

I NEVER said they gave the X-box chips away to pad market share numbers. They made a deal to get the contract. At that time there was a big disscussion about how much an x-box chip cost. ELmer and a few others threw out a few numbers. Then we toyed with how much Microsoft might pay. Wasn't much of a difference. Then again, a lot of speculation.

The idea of padding market share with x-box chips came much later to me. Intel can do it if they want and if no one calls them on it they will look good. And our stock will rise. Not to mention some other good looking numbers.

RE:"Yet why haven't you ridiculed AMD for the days when they gained market share by pricing their CPUs extremely low?"

I see your point but AMD was looking to gain share by actually selling chips that went in PCs.
Besides, AMD is beyond ridicule, their marketing is more like the keystone cops. Their delays have removed all the advantage the mighty Athlon + DDR has given them.
I can hardly find an Athlon XP at retail on a shelf.
Pathetic.
(Yeah, write that down)
