Just thought it might be time to discuss important
things in life.

Speaking of important things, have you seen the Harry Potter movie yet? I went last night. Theater almost empty -- only about 20 of us. So of course this obnoxious little girl who likes to comment on movies sat right behind me. I moved pointedly about 5 minutes into the movie when she was already telling her mother what the book had that they left oiut of the movie.

Visually I enjoyed it immensely. Diagon Alley was absolutely fantastic, just the way I had imagined it. The Quiddich game was fantastic, though not that close to the way Rowling described it. The school situated on the cliff was marvellous, though I don't think it was that high on a cliff in the book. But those are technical things. For the most part it was quite true to the book, though the role of Scrabbles the rat was almost nonexistent, and Malfoy's friends were only in one scene.

But as a story, it just didn't work. I never got to the point where I cared in the least what happened to Harry Potter or any of the others. I felt like an outsider watching purely objectively. It didn't grab me, didn't pull me in at all. In that regard, it was disappointing.

What do others who have seen it think?
