Dan, The number of SD shops is enormous and can easily account for the apparent discrepancies you cite. As mentioned, over the past years or two MSFT has ben forced to level the OS playing field. This has helped the SD shops by upping the cost that Dell/CPQ/IBM pay for the OS by $40-50. The same amount or more has been gained in the chain of supply efficiency. Low memory has also helped, as the SD shops drop the price instantly. We all know the ripoff games the majors OEMs play with memory to fatten their bottom lines.
