" I won't remind you of all the questionable moments that AMD has had over the past year when it comes to "the truth". "

You don't have to. But the fact remains that AMD does report the number of units sold, and often gives at least a good idea as to their breakdown of Durons vs. Athlons. I tend to feel those numbers are trustable, AMD has recently had lawsuits to keep them focussed. Intel, on the otherhand, is coy about those numbers. They wave their hands about "market segment share", and blow smoke. When you apply the market estimates from others and combine it with Intel's claims, the numbers just don't add up, by a large factor.

Ask yourself, why doesn't Intel tell us how many processors they make? Biggest reason I can think of, the numbers don't tell a story they want others to know. What others? AMD? VIA? It's not like those numbers would give them any advantage. No, the people they are trying to hide the information from are analysts and stockholders.
