EPC=0.62 Mildly overbought

Volatile day on the COMPX. Market sold off slight at the open only to rally back after the first 30 minutes. It then counter rallied to 2060 to counter rally during the 8:30 AM PST counter rally. That lasted for about a half an hour and then the market rallied to 2065, where it promptly sold off. to 2040. The afternoon counter rally took the index up to close essentially flat but above the critical break out point on the weekly down trend line. All in all an impressive day and it indicates that the selling is being meet with aggressive buying of the dips.

On the daily chart today was essenitally an indecision day. What happens today will indicate the direction for the next few days. Tomorrow will be affected by the unemployment day.

Still no confirmed sell signal on the daily COMPX chart, though it is oversold. Intra-day it is also overbought with a downside biad, but the signal is indetermine.

On the verge of a confirmed sell on the SOX daily chart. Intra-day the SOX looks like the COMPX. It is overbought with a downward bias, but the signal is indeterminate.

General Commentary

Not sure which was more impressive -- Wednesday's 84 point
surge, or yesterday's 7 point gain... While the former was
certainly the more spectacular move, think the latter was
probably more impressive... After having rallied by 7% in
two sessions, the Nasdaq was ripe for some profit-taking...
Fact that the index/tech sector managed to shake off early
session selling attempts, and push higher into the close,
shows that demand remains strong.

Valuations may be insane, but it would be equally insane to
make a big bet against the market now that it has broken out
to the upside... There are still plenty of portfolio
managers that went into the month underweight stocks,
especially technology... As the sector/market runs away from
these folks, they are forced to chase the advance or risk
underperforming yet again... Considering the ample cash
sitting on the sidelines, there would seem to be plenty of
fuel left to ignite additional gains.

Briefing.com not arguing that it will be straight up from
here, but we also haven't seen anything to suggest that
traders won't continue to buy dips... Consequently, those
corrections that do come about will be relatively shallow
and short-lived... Reflecting the rapid change in market
psychology, corrections will also be viewed as buying
opportunities and not the beginning of the next major
downturn.

Despite their sizable gains, Briefing.com continues to favor
the larger-cap industry leaders over the second and third
tier names as these are the stocks most favored by the big
portfolio managers... Examples include Sun Micro (SUNW),
Dell (DELL), Intel (INTC), Applied Materials (AMAT), Siebel
(SEBL), Veritas (VRTS), Brocade (BRCD), Broadcom (BRCM),
eBay (EBAY), IBM (IBM), Microsoft (MSFT), EMC (EMC), Ciena
(CIEN), Nokia (NOK), Texas Instruments (TXN) and Cisco
(CSCO).

Add DVID to the DVD list. btw, co was founded by one of the guys that founded C-Cube. Makes a few cents and has a p/s of .14

Digital Video Systems Inc. is involved in the marketing and development of a variety of products and technologies in the digital video arena, such as video CD players, the design of decoder chips, networked video servers that provide near Video-on-Demand, digital Ad-Insertion systems that automatically insert digital video commercials into broadcasting programs, video players for commercial kiosk applications, DVD players under agreements with original equipment manufacturers or under the DVS brand name, and other products for the computer peripheral market.
