Carolyn you said....<<<<<<<I think our armed forces were weakened during the Clinton Administration and need to be strengthened, which our current President seems to be doing.>>>>>>>>>>

Our military was not weakened, during or Bush Sr., the force structure was downsized because the Soviets collapsed. Besides a Republican controlled congress prisided over the budgets throughout the nineties they wer the one who decided what to spend on defense. Why do we need to increase the size of the military, we can't find an enemy who can threaten the US. Our Navy alone has enough fire power at this moment to blow the world up fifty times, and has no other Navy that can challenge it, so on what do you base your need for more firepower. The Republican pork barrel need for spending and wasting money on useles military projects. The monies would better spent on chem bio defense except that the military industrial complex would get no benefit, so we will build a useless shield instead

When I attended the Defense Summit in Washington DC several weeks ago I spoke with several recently retired as well as a few active senior members of the Military. The attrition of officers and enlisted was horrific under mr. bill. The universal revulsion of mr. bill was intense and this gut wrenching reality led many to leave early.

My first hand knowledge speaking with my daughter a veteran confirms that sad trend. But President Bush inspired a new faith and hope well before 911 and his leadership since has inspired all those who are in the military to really be Proud to be Americans. Where we know we are free individuals. Not collective members of the world village.
